The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee Meeting of ICAR-RC for NEH Region was conducted on the 26th of August,2024 under the chairmanship of Dr Sandeep Ghatak, Principal Scientist and Head, DAFS. Prof. Pritam Mohan, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Guwahati, Main Nominee, Prof. Dipankar Saha, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati Scientist from outside the Institute attended the meeting physically. Dr Ganga Modi Naidu Vegi, NIPER-Guwahati, Socially Aware Nominee attended on virtual mode. All the external members were nominated by Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The meeting was also attended by IAEC internal members of the institute viz. Dr. Samir Das, Dr Gautam Khargharia, Dr Rahul Katiyar (virtual) and Dr Sourabh Deori, Member Secretary. In total, 7 projects were presented by different scientists before the committee for ethical clearance. Following meeting, the committee members visited the pig and goat farm (Animal House) of the institute to inspect the animal welfare issues.
